A one-use, disposable device for use by soldiers in the field is being developed to measure glucose, glutamine and lactate (USAMRMC-funded).
A continuous version of this device is also being developed for diabetes care. The optoelectronics of the sensor and the microfluidics for the sample cells are being optimized. Preliminary evaluation in comparison to commercially available glucose meters is ongoing. Application to monitoring nutrients in cell culture through a microdialysis sampling procedure is underway.
