Keep up with the recent events and accomplishments at CAST!

November 19th, 2023: Congratulations to our CAST undergraduates for receiving awards at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS) held in Phoenix, Arizona! Mesha Shajahan won in the Math, Physics, and Engineering Section for her work on transcutaneous CO₂ sensing under the mentorship of Dr. Preety Ahuja. Tithi Prajapati won in the Chemistry Section for her work on optical nitrate sensing under the mentorship of Dr. Venkatesh Srinivasan. We are so proud of you!


October 23rd, 2023: During the summer of 2023, three interns, two high school students and a UMBC sophomore, guided by Dr. Venkatesh Srinivasan, Assistant Research Scientist at CAST prepared an interesting report about the challenges faced by Women in STEM and how they overcome imparity. June 7th, 2023: CAST students sweep the IFPAC 2023 conference student poster presentations again! Congratulations to Vikash Kumar on 1st place, Vida Rahmatnejad and Revati Kadolkar on 2nd place. We are so proud of you!


February 15th, 2023: Congratulations to Christopher Slaughter on winning the prestigious Gates-Cambridge Scholarship. Chris shall be pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at the University of Cambridge (UK). We are so proud of you! Read more about Chris’s exciting opportunity here.



August 13th, 2022: Congratulations to Revati Kadolkar on winning the ‘Intern Project Showcase’ at Genentech and Roche in the Operations and Quality category across their United States and Europe facilities during her internship at Genentech this summer – we are so proud of you!
