Fieldable SERS Sensing Platform for Trace Chemical Agent Detection

This research program involves the development of proprietary multi-layer SERS substrate capable of providing trace detection and identification of chemicals (e.g., chemical warfare agents, environmental pollutants, etc.) for periods of months or more without any degradation in signal enhancement.

The specificity and quantitative abilities and multiplexed detection capabilities provided by SERS and these substrates makes them ideal for field applications. Investigation into the mechanism of this novel SERS sensing platform has been partially supported by the Army Research Laboratory (ARL).
