This research program involves the development of a proprietary surface enhanced Raman scattering-based sensing array for the rapid (less than five minutes) qualitative and quantitative detection of as many as fifty different pathogenic species from complex environments.
This sensor array platform couples receptor bound collector particles with a novel surround SERS approach and optical amplification for the detection of small numbers of pathogens from complex food and water matricies. Support for current efforts associated with this project is being provided by the U. S. Department of Agriculture(USDA).
