April 19th, 2024: Congratulations to our CAST students for receiving various poster awards at UMBC’s COEIT Research Day. Revati Kadolkar won in the Doctoral category, Tithi Prajapati and Mesha Shajahan won in the Bachelor’s category, while Elias Gilotte received an Honorable Mention! March 6th, 2024: CAST students swept the IFPAC 2024 conference student poster presentations again! Congratulations to Mesha Shajahan on 1st place and Tithi Prajapati on 3rd place. We are so proud of you!
November 19th, 2023: Congratulations to our CAST undergraduates for receiving awards at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS) held in Phoenix, Arizona! Mesha Shajahan won in the Math, Physics, and Engineering Section for her work on transcutaneous CO₂ sensing under the mentorship of Dr. Preety Ahuja. Tithi Prajapati won in the Chemistry Section for her work on optical nitrate sensing under the mentorship of Dr. Venkatesh Srinivasan. We are so proud of you!
October 23rd, 2023: During the summer of 2023, three interns, two high school students and a UMBC sophomore, guided by Dr. Venkatesh Srinivasan, Assistant Research Scientist at CAST prepared an interesting report about the challenges faced by Women in STEM and how they overcome imparity. August 17th, 2023: Vikash Kumar, a PhD Candidate at CAST emerged victorious at the 2023 BIOT Tank competition, organized by ACS BIOT (Division of Biochemical Technology of the American Chemical Society) at the 2023 ACS conference in San Francisco, CA.
Kumar’s company, Breathable Bioprocessing (watch video), showcased their groundbreaking solution: a breathable flask paired with a non-invasive sensor system designed for shake flask, t-flask, and G-Rex applications. His innovative solutions in bioprocessing captured the attention of both industry experts and peers, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field. Congratulations Vikash! We are so proud of you!
